Visa - Journalists, TV and Filming Crews

 

REGULATIONS

·         Foreigners travelling to Brazil as journalists (non correspondents), TV and filming crews require this type of visa.

·         Nationals of the following countries, whose stay in Brazil will not exceed 90 days and who will not receive any payment in the country, are exempted from this type of visa: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, The Netherlands, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, The Philippines, Poland, Portugal (only for journalists), San Marino, Slovenia, South Africa, Sovereign Order of Malta, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Uruguay and The Vatican.

·         When carrying professional equipment, however, nationals of the countries above are recommended to obtain a visa under this category. This is to facilitate procedures with Brazilian Customs for the temporary importation of that equipment into Brazil.

·         Please note that commercial, publicity and documentary filming in Brazil requires the participation of a Brazilian co-producer (Contact the Press Office of the Brazilian Embassy for a list of the Brazilian co-producers. The Brazilian co-producer will submit the application for the filming to the ANCINE (AGENCIA NACIONAL DO CINEMA – www.ancine.gov.br).

·         Passport should be valid for at least six months.

·         First entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days from the date the visa is issued. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A VISA APPLICATION

·         Passport (the Consulate reserves the right not to endorse soiled, damaged or defaced passports).

·         Two applications forms, completed and signed by the applicant.

·         Two passport-size photograph.

·         A letter from the company or institution to which the applicant is linked.

·         Authorisation from ANCINE applicable only to commercial, publicity and documentary filming.

·         Certificate of vaccination, if necessary (see enclosed information).

·         Processing time is a minimum of ten working days.

CONSULAR FEES

·         US$60.00 ( dollars)

·         All consular fees should be paid in cash (US dollars) at the Consulate
